Lesson 64: Using OpenClaw as a Short-Video Production Assistant

Short-video work is not only editing. Much of the time goes into organizing footage, transcribing audio, finding highlights, writing captions, and preparing publishing copy.

Skills Used

Search skills.lc for video, subtitle, transcribe, or clip. In this environment, use video-frames for frames and clips, openai-whisper or openai-whisper-api for transcription, summarize for long-video summaries, and imagegen for cover images.

Workflow

Organize assets by date, scene, shot type, and usability. Generate a material inventory first.

Transcribe audio and create subtitle drafts. Captions should follow spoken rhythm, not mechanical punctuation.

Mark highlight segments based on conflict, information density, emotion, and conclusion. Then produce an edit list with timestamps, reason to keep, transition notes, caption emphasis, and music mood.

Finish with publishing assets: title, cover copy, description, tags, and pinned comment.

Human Review

Rights, music licensing, customer information, privacy, and platform rules require human review.

Exercise

Give OpenClaw a 10-minute interview and ask for three 60-second edit plans plus publishing copy.

The assistant may not cut the final video, but it can remove chaos before editing starts.
