Lesson 58: Writing Long Documents with OpenClaw
Long documents fail when they become inconsistent, repetitive, or unreadable. OpenClaw helps by splitting the work into collection, outline, section drafting, cross-checking, and layout review.
Skills Used
Search skills.lc for document, docx, report, or writing. In this environment, use documents:documents for .docx creation and rendering, browser for source checks, summarize for external material, spreadsheets for tables, and imagegen for diagrams.
Workflow
Collect source material first: requirements, interviews, old documents, data tables, and links. Ask OpenClaw to create a source inventory and a gap list before writing.
Lock the structure next: headings, chapter goals, evidence, and target length. Then draft section by section. After every section, ask OpenClaw to check whether it answers the right question, repeats earlier text, or makes unsupported claims.
Finally, render the document and inspect headings, tables, page breaks, captions, headers, and footers.
Human Review
Pricing, commitments, customer names, product specifications, legal language, and statistics need human confirmation.
Exercise
Create a pilot proposal called “Introducing OpenClaw into an Enterprise Team,” with a Markdown draft, a .docx version, and a list of questions for the client.
Long documents are not produced in one shot. They are converged through review.
