How to Generate SEO Pages

When indie developers think about SEO pages, they often jump straight to “generate many pages.”

But SEO pages are not keyword-stuffed templates, and they are not thousands of AI-generated articles published at once. SEO pages that work long term must satisfy two conditions: search engines can understand them, and users find them useful after clicking.

Google Search Central's SEO Starter Guide explains SEO as helping search engines understand your content and helping users find your site through search.

First Decide Whether the Page Should Exist

Not every keyword deserves a page.

Before generating a page, ask:

text
Do users actually search this term?
What problem are they trying to solve?
Can this page provide unique value?

If you only swap keywords inside the same content, the pages are unlikely to be valuable.

Good fits for generated SEO pages:

text
City pages: different cities need different service info
Industry pages: different industries need different examples
Tool pages: different inputs create different outputs
Template pages: each template has a distinct use case
Integration pages: each software pair has different setup steps
Comparison pages: product combinations have real differences
Glossary pages: each concept has clear examples and definitions

Poor fits:

text
Only the keyword changes
Users get no real information after clicking
Pages cannot be maintained
Content is AI-generated without review
No internal links and no product path

Search Intent Matters More Than Keywords

Keywords are entry points. Search intent determines the page.

For the same phrase, such as “invoice software,” users may want to:

text
Find a tool
Read a tutorial
Compare prices
Download a template
Understand rules
Fix a specific error

The page structure must match intent.

If the user wants comparison, include comparison tables, fit scenarios, pros and cons, and selection advice. If the user wants instructions, include steps, screenshots, warnings, and FAQs. If the user wants a download, include preview, format details, and usage notes.

Do not use one article template for every keyword.

An SEO Page Needs a Stable Structure

When generating SEO pages, structure matters.

A basic template:

text
H1: clearly state the page topic
Opening: explain what the user will get
Main content: tutorial, comparison, template, case, or tool
Supporting info: use cases, limits, notes
FAQ: answer long-tail questions
Internal links: connect related pages and product paths
CTA: guide the user to the next action
Structured data: add when appropriate

The page does not need to be long. It needs to fully answer the intent.

Google's title and snippet documentation also emphasizes that titles should be clear, unique, and related to the page's main content. Generated pages especially should not all share the same boilerplate title pattern.

Generate Titles and Descriptions With Rules

SEO pages usually need automatic title and description.

Integration page:

text
title: Notion Slack Integration Guide - Sync Tasks and Notifications
description: Learn how to connect Notion databases with Slack notifications, including triggers, permissions, common errors, and automation examples.

Template page:

text
title: SaaS Pricing Page Template - Free Download and Usage Guide
description: View a SaaS pricing page template for indie developers, including plan structure, feature comparison, FAQ, and conversion tips.

Add rules:

text
title should not be too long
description should describe this specific page
pages should not have identical metadata
keywords should appear naturally
metadata language should match page language

Next.js generateMetadata can generate metadata from route params or data, which fits dynamic pages. Make sure the data is stable, cacheable, and consistent with the page content.

Store Content as Structured Fields

If you want to generate SEO pages at scale, do not store only one Markdown block.

Use structured fields:

text
slug
keyword
search_intent
title
description
h1
intro
sections
faq
related_pages
cta
updated_at
review_status

This helps because:

text
Templates are reusable
Titles and descriptions can be generated consistently
FAQ can render separately
Internal links can be automated
Quality checks can be programmatic
Updates are easier

The more SEO pages you have, the more structure matters.

Do Not Create Island Pages

Many generated SEO projects fail because pages have no relationship to each other.

A page with no internal links is harder for users to discover and harder for search engines to understand inside your site.

Design internal linking:

text
Category pages link to detail pages
Detail pages link back to category pages
Similar pages recommend each other
Tutorial pages link to tool pages
Template pages link to case pages
FAQ links to deeper explanations
Product pages link to integration pages

SEO pages are not a pile of files. They are a content network.

Build Sample Pages Before Scaling

Do not generate 1,000 pages first.

Build 5 to 10 sample pages and check:

text
Is search intent clear?
Does the page provide unique value?
Are title and description natural?
Is mobile reading comfortable?
Are internal links useful?
Is the CTA appropriate?
Can the page be indexed?
Does Search Console show impressions?

Scale only after samples prove the structure.

If sample pages get no clicks, no engagement, and no conversion, scaling will only amplify the problem.

AI Can Help, But It Cannot Replace Review

AI is useful for drafts, FAQs, structured fields, and page variants.

But AI should not publish large numbers of pages without review.

Check:

text
Facts are accurate
Links work
Product capabilities are real
Industry terms are correct
Content is not duplicated
Examples are not fabricated
Tone matches the brand

SEO pages represent your product. Thin, wrong, or repetitive pages do not create growth. They damage trust.

Technical Generation Flow

A common flow:

text
1. Keywords and page types enter the database
2. Generate structured content fields for each page
3. Run human or rule-based review
4. Render page templates from fields
5. generateMetadata outputs title, description, and OG data
6. Sitemap includes only indexable pages
7. Internal link module recommends related pages
8. Search Console tracks indexing, impressions, and clicks
9. Low-quality pages are updated based on data

This is more work than bulk Markdown generation, but it is much more controllable.

A Minimum Viable Setup

For an indie developer:

text
1. Pick one page type first
2. Build 10 sample pages
3. Give every page unique title, description, H1, and FAQ
4. Manage content with structured fields
5. Add at least 3 related internal links per page
6. Use generateMetadata for page metadata
7. Include only reviewed pages in the sitemap
8. Check impressions, clicks, indexing, and conversion weekly

Validate one page system before increasing page count.

Final Thoughts

SEO page generation is not mainly about generation. It is about whether the page deserves to be searched, clicked, read, and trusted.

Scale is an amplifier. If structure, intent, quality, and internal links are weak, scale only amplifies low quality.

Build a small set of high-quality sample pages first. Then turn the proven structure into a system.
